The College offers two non-credit courses – MATH 009, Transitional Mathematics and ENGL 009, Transitional English – that provide students with the opportunity to refresh or improve their basic skills in mathematics, reading and writing. These courses are optional and are graded on a pass/fail basis. A student may take the Accuplacer Placement Tests to help them decide if they might benefit from one or the other transitional courses. These courses may each be repeated once.
MATH 009 and ENGL 009 carry no credit toward an associate or a bachelor’s degree, but they do count toward full-time status. They are not considered as part of the Satisfactory Academic Progress calculation and do not count in the student’s GPA.
The tuition for transitional courses is the same as for other Potomac College courses.
