Potomac College has two convenient campuses in Virginia and Washington, D.C., that offers adult learning education solutions that are perfect for career professionals. Professionals can choose from several two- or four-year college degree programs at our adult learning centers that fit comfortably into busy work schedules. Potomac's adult learning classes are advantageous to career advancement, and conveniently meet well outside of traditional business hours.

As an adult learner, you can choose from several bachelor of science or associate of science degrees. Our college offers bachelors degrees in accounting; international business; government contract management; business management (with several areas of specialization, such as health care management and religious organizations management); and information systems. Our associate degrees include accounting, information systems, and business -- we offer an Associate of Science in security management, too.

One major reason our academic programs are suited for career advancement for the adult learner is that they require students to merge their academic pursuits with their work life. This approach helps the adult learner to enhance his or her college experience and advance a job or career. Through capstone courses and Theoretical Application Projects that can be employed in the adult learner's workplace, our programs put adult students on the fast track to career advancement success.

Consider:

• Accounting as a career is an excellent, stable employment choice. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts continued job growth in the accounting field, where an accounting program degree is an asset. Accountants may be employed in a wide variety of areas, with the most promising job growth occurring in healthcare accounting and corporate or tax accounting. In the wake of the Sarbanes-Oxley act, stricter financial controls for businesses are required, and adult learners with solid accounting skills will find themselves on stable career paths.
• As our society becomes increasingly wired, the pursuit of an information system two- or four-year college degree is very sensible. Information system and computer system specialists are urgently needed in every career, from healthcare to nursing to publishing to manufacturing. Understanding how computer programs work; how to troubleshoot systems and secure networks; and how to build databases, create spreadsheets, and present graphics are all very important career skills in a society that increasingly turns to technology for business. At Potomac, we offer a specialized information systems baccalaureate degree in cyber security, which is an area of information system management that is rapidly growing and in high demand, inside and outside of the Virginia/Washington, D.C. area.
• Business is always a solid career choice. Now, with imminent threats to national security, and in the wake of corporate scandals such as Enron, honest and ethical managers are needed in a wide variety of businesses. Management training from Potomac College offers technical skill sets and enables the business leaders of tomorrow to run stable operations that facilitate economic growth while serving the public good. A degree in Government Contract Management and Management is versatile and will afford the adult learner career advancement.  Specializing in a health systems management degree or health information management degree is a great choice as well, especially in a nation facing a rapidly aging population and soaring managed-care costs.
