Accounting

Potomac College is an Accredited College that offers a two-year Associate’s Degree in accounting courses that will prepare you for a para-professional accounting position, assisting in auditing and tax preparation. This program enables students to develop the necessary skills required to analyze transactions, prepare journal entries, and post to the ledgers.

Bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks are an organization’s financial record keepers. They update and maintain one or more accounting records, including those which tabulate expenditures, receipts, accounts payable and receivable, and profit and loss. They represent a wide range of skills and knowledge from full-charge bookkeepers who can maintain an entire company’s books to accounting clerks who handle specific accounts.

Students will be able to summarize the financial information by preparing and interpreting financial statements to assist in management decision-making. Accounting students can obtain employment as a bookkeeper, an accounts receivable clerk, and other entry-level business positions.

"...The projects allowed me to apply classroom theory to my current job"

"When I began my educational journey at Potomac College, I epitomized the model of the non-traditional student. Having a degree has made a difference in the way I am viewed by others and even the way I view myself in my chosen profession. I am currently researching graduate programs, and I will always be thankful for the education I received at Potomac.” -Deborah Keaton, Class of 2005
